2019-02-15All I Need14:40Goose Octave Covington KYBreaks into an awesome funk jam that leads into "Magic School Bus" teasing. Eventually makes a major pivot soars through a great peak.
2019-02-15Same Old Shenanigans13:14Goose Octave Covington KYDifferent arrangement than we'll see after its 2021 revival, but really cool to peek into an early version of "SOS." Still has that same arena rock peak - except it was played in a tiny club.
2019-04-19Wysteria Lane15:01Goose Down the Road Beer Co. Everett MAUpon departure from song proper, Peter lays down a HEAVY layer of guitar while Rick vamps in major key, giving the otherwise standard jam a really cool feel. Peter then switches to keys as they hit a pleasant space for the remainder.
2019-04-20Drive16:49Goose Acoustic, The Bridgeport CTMight have you thinking you're listening on 1.5x speed. Breakneck pace and explosive first peak leads to some serious shredding from Peter in the second jam.
2019-09-06Wysteria Lane18:50Goose Sprout Music Collective West Chester PAGorgeous groove (repeated in 12/6/19 "GB Rap") builds in intensity w/out losing its beauty. Glory peak at 11 ends with Rick returning to earlier groove. Shifts into more rocking style allowing more focus on each member before melting > Indian River.
2019-09-18Creatures18:42Goose Coopers Lake Slippery Rock PAImpossible not to listen to this version without a huge smile on your face. High-spirited, happy and melodic jamming with a fun peak.
2019-11-10All I Need19:23Goose Broadberry, The Richmond VAMelodic first jam gives way to a cowbell-driven, spacey jam. Trevor and Rick trade counterpoints until Trevor's soaring bass lines propel them to a beautiful peak! Not content, the band digs into a dirty groove to bring it home.
2019-11-16Indian River10:45Goose Nietzsche's Buffalo NYShort, pretty jam that finishes with a wonderful return to the Indian River riff.
2019-11-16Drive30:17Goose Nietzsche's Buffalo NYAfter a fairly standard first jam, second jam picks up in the 11th minute and no one could predict would follow as Goose launches into their longest, most exploratory jam to date (and only 30 min+ jam pre-2022) that caps off an all-time 4-song set.

2019-12-06Ghostbusters Rap18:17Goose Cervantes' Other Side Denver COGreat segue out of Drive leads to one of the most unexpected jams of 2019. 2019-12-07All I Need17:23Goose Old Town Pub & Restaurant Steamboat Springs COA twisting “fast Need” with a danceable exploratory initial jam that pivots over a drum break into a more dynamic guitar-led section. As Rick passes the baton to Trevor, they descend into an almost marching section with a syncopated drum line and thumping bassline. Rick finds a new melody that the band quickly backs as a looping hook that naturally summons the composed tail.
2019-12-08Tumble16:54Goose Old Town Pub & Restaurant Steamboat Springs COMight as well call this “Tremble,” with the entirety of the jam built on Trevor’s thumping bass line. After an unusually fast-paced composed head, the two-section improv begins with Rick exploring morphing loops before dropping into a slightly twangy almost southern rock jam.
2019-12-08Time to Flee14:10Goose Old Town Pub & Restaurant Steamboat Springs COEfficient Pete-led 14-minute journey initiated by his vibesy accompaniment as Rick arpeggiates out of the head section. A soaring synth jam that starts bright and clean morphs into a grittier sawtoothy lead section before landing them into a floating full-band jam with sort of “Scarlet”-islandy motif undergirded by rolling drum fills and well-placed Trevor flair. Rick leads out from there with a punchy attack that twists the tropical theme into a short but assertive closing statement.
2019-12-08Drive23:22Goose Old Town Pub & Restaurant Steamboat Springs COMulti-layered creative journey w/ 2 distinct jams. 1st starts with an "IUB"/"I is" vocalization & high energy jam. 2nd jam contains chaotic 2-guitar attack, Creatures-like groove & another shredding peak. Slows down for a landing into Danger Zone.
2019-12-11Elizabeth17:26Goose Bootleg at Atomic Cowboy, The St. Louis MODouble guitar dancefest until jam shifts blissfully with around 4 minutes to go. Jam doesn’t necessarily slow down (if anything Ben pushes) but Peter shifts to keys and jam finds a melodic space to breathe and grow beautifully.

2023-11-18All I Need13:29Goose Thekla Bristol Summoning the ghost of the ‘21 Legend Valley "Madhuvan," this sub-14-minute version contains an incredible stop/start jam, alternating back and forth between peaceful serenity and possessed heavy metal shredding.
2023-11-19Hot Tea18:20Goose Electric Ballroom London Dance fest that brings an extra bit of juice to the party. Ripping extended finish.
2023-11-20Hungersite20:59Goose Electric Ballroom London Builds momentum like many '23 versions but begins to stray from normal when Peter hits the clav with some subtle delay. Spuds is an absolute WORKHORSE as he keeps the propulsive tempo up. Rick finds a melody that he likes and Goose shreds to a peak of epic proportions. Final night of tour throw-down.
2023-12-08All I Need14:06Goose Hampton Coliseum Hampton VAFor the first time ever, Goose combines the original and "slow" arrangements of "AIN" as part of the Echochrome planet theme. Jam is solid but the real star is Peter's RIPPING ending guitar solo.
2023-12-08Creatures21:52Goose Hampton Coliseum Hampton VAStandard play for the majority of the jam breaks into an excellent full-band rhythmic motif for the last five minutes. All about the drums here.
2023-12-09Dripfield17:51Goose Hampton Coliseum Hampton VARare mid-first-set "Drip" returns to arena status with a high-octane Type II peak. Great stuff, fades unfinished.
2023-12-09Run Through The Jungle11:39Goose Hampton Coliseum Hampton VANot your average "strap in" CCR cover. Peter hits the Vibe as the jam begins and the band embarks on a wildly spacey Type II journey that eventually winds around to the conclusion of "Echo of a Rose." Look for this song again in 2024.
2023-12-09Arcadia13:58Goose Hampton Coliseum Hampton VAA fitting conclusion to the tenth Goosemas that also was Spuds' final song - though we didn't know at the time. Nothing out of the ordinary but a special, fiery "Arcadia" that takes some extra spins around the ending as the band took a moment to relish their Hampton accomplishment.
2024-04-07Everything Must Go21:47Goose Capitol Theatre, The Port Chester NYRevised arrangement with propulsive drumming from Cotter leads to a jam that could not be more different from Fall '23 versions. Initially winds up in a great blissy space that reaches a natural conclusion, but the band instead opts to put the pedal to the metal and strike into a dance groove. Peter hits into some filthy envelope filter clav work before transitioning into marimba while Rick slowly guides the band back into the euphoric conclusion of the song.
2024-04-07This Old Sea8:01Goose Capitol Theatre, The Port Chester NYFirst version with Jeff on acoustic guitar and it sounds great. Jam coalesces into a cool groove before sliding perfectly -> to "Factory Fiction," probably the most notable thing about this one.
2024-04-08Rosewood Heart25:07Goose Capitol Theatre, The Port Chester NYA breathtaking and beautiful take on the song. Doesn't stray far from "Rosewood" proper but showcases remarkable patience as the band builds together to a dreamlike peak. Rick throws in some excellent dark tension-building moments toward the end as well.
2024-04-09Wysteria Lane17:33Goose Capitol Theatre, The Port Chester NYGreat dual-guitar churn on the front end, but the last few minutes of deconstructive and contemplative play are the real star. Showed potential for further exploration but was abandoned in favour of a concise "Echo of a Rose."
2024-04-09Thatch18:26Goose Capitol Theatre, The Port Chester NYDark and propulsive jam led by Peter on the OB-6. Not the deepest improvisationally but an excellent listen.
2024-04-09Madhuvan19:01Goose Capitol Theatre, The Port Chester NYJam begins from nothing as Rick begins to build a sinister motif. Peter lays down delayed Vibe as the rest of the band enters and gradually build into a beautifully evil churn. Rick then signals to Cotter at the apex and the drums drive forward into double-time, bringing us home in a blaze of glory to bookend this second set. Some really wild and articulate heavy metal builds from Rick.
2024-04-10Atlas Dogs16:35Goose Capitol Theatre, The Port Chester NYFirst jammed version since 10/6/22 gets into an airy space quickly with Rick sticking to form at first.
2024-04-10Tumble23:34Goose Capitol Theatre, The Port Chester NYPeter goes full Cory Wong mode on the initial jam segment as he takes a stroll around the stage. Eschewing the typical B-flat modulation to go into jam territory, the band fragments out of the funk and quickly builds into gorgeous major-key play led by Vintage Vibe and Rick's emotional soloing. Cotter picks up the tempo post-peak and Rick lets Peter take the lead as they blaze into the finish of an excellent jam and set.
2024-04-10Cape Cod Kwassa Kwassa 31:35Goose Capitol Theatre, The Port Chester NYThe fabled 31-minute "Cape Cod" of Vampire Weekend dreams. Cotter and CT really lock in here as the band gets into uncharted territory. Hits some Allman Brothers bliss (much to the excitement of Rick and Ezra), then some great clav funk ahead of the song's conclusion. "Those guys can hang!"
2024-04-10Arrow25:09Goose Capitol Theatre, The Port Chester NYA good omen for 2024, "Arrow" makes good use of its time in the first outing of the year. The band drops into a late-night OB-6 space for a while before an explosive conclusion.
2024-04-10Hungersite20:19Goose Capitol Theatre, The Port Chester NYGoes absolutely balls-to-the-walls for the first jam, getting to high speeds and intensity while Rick absolutely unleashes on the eager crowd. Back half is a nice and patient dual-guitar space that segues nicely into "Dripfield" to complete the Driptych.
2024-04-24Jam8:08Goose Clune Auditorium at Wilton High School Wilton CTRick's rig suffers from some technical difficulties, so the rest of the band takes the time by hanging out in some gorgeous ambience with a commitment to patience and quieter dynamics. Especially incredible melodic work from Trevor. Rick rejoins toward the end and nudges the band into "Silver Rising."
2024-05-26Can't Get You Out Of My Head10:36Goose Three Sisters Park Chillicothe ILIt's your classic festival set "Myst" -> "Kylie"...until it's not. Amazing textures in a synth-drenched wind-down on the outro.
2024-05-26Everything Must Go20:23Goose Three Sisters Park Chillicothe ILA sludgy and mysterious exit from the song structure leads to some typical jamming that progressively gets more melodic over the course of 12 minutes or so until Rick latches onto the theme that becomes the centerpiece. He deftly builds up to the peak backed by Cotter’s staccato attack for 5 minutes of triumphant glory. We don’t know what we’ve won, but we’re certain we’re victorious.
2024-06-04All I Need18:56Goose Factory, The Chesterfield MOCotter's first "AIN" opens summer tour on a strong note. Gets into some percussive space before a brief major section gives way to a spacier and dark-tinged mode. Peter goes to guitar for the last few minutes as they explore some new territory before sliding perfectly -> to "Flee."
2024-06-04Borne30:47Goose Factory, The Chesterfield MOInitial standard "Borne" jamming gets into some weird territory just before the 20-minute mark thanks to Cotter and Trevor. Envelope filter bass gets augmented by choppy clav from Peter as Rick lays down loops, eventually smoothly morphing into an upbeat and rocking peak. Hell of an omen for the rest of tour.
2024-06-04The Empress Of Organos21:35Goose Factory, The Chesterfield MORick's new synth pedal gets a workout as the band plays the first of many amazing versions of "Empress" in summer '24. Late-night disco groove emerges, which will be a prevalent theme throughout the tour.
2024-06-05Tumble22:38Goose Factory, The Chesterfield MOThe band departs from initial funk together in a rocking progression with Peter laying down chunky guitar behind Rick's soloing. Downshifts with a major modulation and follows a familiar uplifting pattern as Cotter pushes the tempo. Hits a strong peak before returning to funk and hints at "Arrow" ahead of the song's conclusion.
2024-06-05Thatch15:57Goose Factory, The Chesterfield MOCircular patterns of tension and darkness develop as Cotter's fluidity shines. Builds layers and layers of unease as Peter hits sirens and Rick gets dissonant. Amazing stuff that can be likened to a mid-90s "Stash."
2024-06-05Red Bird23:17Goose Factory, The Chesterfield MORoaring down the open road, radio blaring “...and the road goes on forever I’ve got one more silver...”, feeling mellow mischievous, the sea pans into view. Now barreling along the cliffs the Rider abruptly plunges into the sea, radio cut dead in the depths replaced by embryonic deep whooshing saline heartbeat. Feeling a needful pull toward the surface a triumphant new driving rhythm crackles the airwaves while screaming ablaze toward shouts emanating from vermin in their wooden coffin soon-to-be a pyre.
2024-06-05Tomorrow Never Knows15:37Goose Factory, The Chesterfield MOBlasts out of an excellent "Red Bird" into a blistering hot jam.
2024-06-07Jive Lee21:45Goose Fiddler's Green Amphitheatre Greenwood Village COAll-out disco dance party. First "Lee" to ever hit 20 minutes stays in a steady pocket with digital sauce from Rick and OB-6 work from Peter. Trevor steps in with a new progression that deepens the vibe as Cotter stays heavy on toms. Eventually increases in intensity and rages into the finish. Stellar version.
2024-06-07Wysteria Lane17:42Goose Fiddler's Green Amphitheatre Greenwood Village COA gorgeous two-guitar bliss jam that unfurls into the mountain air. A mood of exuberance throughout.
2024-06-07Hungersite20:54Goose Fiddler's Green Amphitheatre Greenwood Village COThe band sits in Type I "Hungersite" territory for most of the jam, giving the impression of a conscious effort to resist full peak mode for as long as possible. By the time they get there, there's some undertones of heavy rock and Cotter leads into a half-time shred mode for the final minute that's absolutely amazing.
2024-06-07Dripfield16:02Goose Fiddler's Green Amphitheatre Greenwood Village COQuickly departs "Drip" proper for a similar jam to the earlier "Wysteria." Not super long but is guaranteed to lift your spirits.
2024-06-08Drive30:20Goose Fiddler's Green Amphitheatre Greenwood Village COSecond "Drive" of the year and second to pass 30 minutes. Hangs out in fast-paced two-guitar funk zones until the 15th minute, when Rick leads into a more atmospheric zone atop a bed of Peter's synth. Trevor gets LOW as the band finds an ascending riff akin to "Time to Flee" and works it for a while. Eventually finds its way into a piano-forward zone that seems to hint at "Factory Fiction" for a while. Lands smoothly in a set-closing "Give it Time."
2024-06-10Butter Rum16:35Goose Steelhouse Omaha NEHating on this "Rum" is hating on some of Rick's best guitar work of the tour. It's like a spoiled child claiming that the family trip to Disney was a disaster because they had to have cake for dessert instead of ice cream.
2024-06-10Arcadia20:06Goose Steelhouse Omaha NEPure hose. There's not necessarily a need for exploration here as the band's excitement pours out into the celebratory music.
2024-06-11Inside Out24:48Goose Midland Theatre, The Kansas City MOThe beginning of this is all about the Vibe textures. Peter sticks to chordal work through a big peak before the band transitions into a more propulsive zone, beginning to build momentum thanks to Peter's repeated piano and Cotter's insistence. Rick hangs back to let the drummer lead as Peter throws ideas into the space. Continuously builds in energy and intensity before a hot peak, finally closing out with a few minutes of percussive funk and interplay before abruptly swerving into "A Fifth of Beethoven."
2024-06-11Hungersite24:12Goose Midland Theatre, The Kansas City MOPeter keeps the familiar "Hungersite" peak fresh with a repeated descending lick, beefing up his usual comping behind Rick's solo. Barely slows down at all before the disco-delay clav comes in like this version's counterparts from 11/20/23 and Chateau Sessions. Rick throws in some digital sauce as the disco gets more vicious and hits a final peak.
2024-06-12Everything Must Go20:26Goose Everwise Amphitheater at White River State Park Indianapolis INFirst set closing jam that fools you with an initial pleasing bliss section before turning on the burners and torching Indianapolis to the ground. NSFW explosive peaking.
2024-06-12Rosewood Heart18:20Goose Everwise Amphitheater at White River State Park Indianapolis INSteady marimba-filled groove gives most of jam a summery vibe, that begins to turn on the gas around 5.5 minutes left. Rick begins trilling and chording up higher and more melodically as the rest of band increases in volume and intensity. Gorgeous "Rosewood" heart-bursting beauty at 16:47 that resolves wonderfully.
2024-06-14Earthling or Alien?20:42Goose Northlands Live Swanzey NHListening to this jam feels incomplete without taking into account the incredible sunset that happened during it. The band breaks from "E or A?" form into a long synth-drenched peak with blissful energy.
2024-06-14Thatch18:16Goose Northlands Live Swanzey NHBlazing second set version sees the band lock in around Trevor's thumping and Peter's arpeggiator. Hypnotic groove develops and hits a peak but is brought to its conclusion by Rick before it can go any further.
2024-06-14Wysteria Lane17:20Goose Northlands Live Swanzey NHWith its patient commitment to quieter dynamics, the first half drips with Manzarek-style vintage vibe flurries in conversation with subtle guitar lines. As the tempo increases, both keys and guitar introduce distortion, leading the full band into the same punctuated recurring motif as the fiery Ryman "Wysteria."
2024-06-15Tumble21:13Goose Constellation Brands-Marvin Sands Performing Arts Center Canandaigua NYWinner of the 2024 "How Much Can You Do With a Single Riff?" contest, this "Tumble" locks onto a bright bubblegum pop theme, energetically looped while stretching its sugary edges and layering subtle synth swells over syncopated marimba textures. A brief but intense Dream Theater-like detour adds a dramatic twist before gleefully returning to the composed outro.
2024-06-16Time to Flee18:41Goose Jacobs Pavilion at Nautica Cleveland OHQuickly pivots from easy breezy mode into punchy clav funk. Grows thicker and heavier for several minutes until the band comes up for air and soars into a peaky zone atop Peter's synth drone. Rick's soloing has some serious mojo behind this as Goose blasts through the amazing end of this jam.
2024-06-16Arrow26:41Goose Jacobs Pavilion at Nautica Cleveland OHThis lengthy "Arrow" takes its time to leave the bow, but, once it does, soars high and true. The band pulls every trick from the quiver, starting with juicy vintage vibes, moving into interpolated Eurythmics-style synth work, and culminating in a punchy motif in which Rick masterfully synthesizes angular phrasing and blissy peaks.
2024-06-18Atlas Dogs21:38Goose Red Hat Amphitheater Raleigh NCLongest "Atlas Dogs" to date starts with vibrato-heavy Vibe and assertive Trevor as Rick sticks to rhythm. Octave-up chirp soloing and tom-heavy driving from Cotter hits the "Tarantella Napoletana" and peaks. Could have ended there but Cotter hits into a dance beat and Peter dials in the phased-out piano for several minutes of jamming that could have come directly from a Parcels show. Impossible not to dance.
2024-06-20Mississippi Half-Step Uptown Toodeloo26:31Goose Fox Theatre Atlanta GAHuge second set cover follows a similar path to the 4/7/24 "Drive" - heavy and driving dual-guitar work in the first part and an uplifting slide of piano rock to end it off. Incredible jam.
2024-06-21Elizabeth13:14Goose Fox Theatre Atlanta GADon't ever skip a shorter "Liz" in this era. Pure energy and rock.
2024-06-21Drive22:26Goose Fox Theatre Atlanta GATwo-guitar funk dissolves into a patient major key with great cymbal contributions from Jeff. Never really takes off into high-energy peak land which is a rare occurrence and segues nicely into a powerful "Bob Don."
2024-06-21Thatch17:30Goose Fox Theatre Atlanta GAYou enjoy this jam, beginning with some squishy OB-6 work from Peter and eventually shifting into a flowing rock zone that might inspire you to jump on trampolines.
2024-06-22Tumble27:03Goose Fox Theatre Atlanta GAThe summer of "Tumble" continues with this ATL heater, once again delving into serious bliss-rock territory. Kicks off a three-song set of sustained energy from band and crowd alike in fine form.
2024-06-23Borne19:46Goose Skyla Credit Union Amphitheatre Charlotte NCOn a sweltering evening in NC, Goose opts for quiet introspection in "Borne," following Peter's thick Vintage Vibe work into a familiar major-key progression. Sunset jams.
2024-06-23Echo of a Rose27:26Goose Skyla Credit Union Amphitheatre Charlotte NCAn initial peak leads into some deeper minor-key marimba/Rick chord jamming. Peter infuses a synth drone and Rick goes for an octave-down soar, sticking to a somewhat blissy mode. Modulates for a slower psychedelic rock zone with incredible drum work atop a repeating progression before mellowing and returning home.
2024-06-25All I Need19:18Goose Thompson's Point Portland MEGrounded minor-key play is a nice departure from the synth-heavy jams of June '24. Flips to major for a spell before a grimy build brings us home.
2024-06-25Drive20:33Goose Thompson's Point Portland METhick and dirty dual-guitar work for its duration. Slides cleanly into "Hollywood Nights."
2024-06-25Into the Myst19:12Goose Thompson's Point Portland MEA propulsive Trevor-led groove gives way to some gentle arpeggiator accentuation from Peter under a mellow Summery vibe. To round things out, a pretty descending chord progression from Rick is danced around by the band until, continuing to trend of unfinished "Mysts", there's is a fade-out > "Spirit of the Dark Horse".
2024-06-26The Empress Of Organos17:35Goose Thompson's Point Portland MESqueezing in the encore before curfew, Goose defies expectations of a standard version and delivers a brutally evil jam section within "Empress."
2024-06-28Hungersite20:08Goose Mann Center for the Performing Arts Philadelphia PAThis first jam is the Cotter show. The man is on FIRE through the usual peak and then goes hand-in-hand with Rick into an angular, dark zone for the final few minutes. A motif that is begging to be explored more by Goose.
2024-06-29Hot Tea19:22Goose Forest Hills Stadium Queens NYFirst version ever to open a two-set performance gets into some nice rocking Type 1.5 space to kick off the band's largest show to date. Lots of fun in this slot.
2024-06-29Yeti11:59Goose Forest Hills Stadium Queens NYThe 2024 resurgence of "Yeti" continues with this digital sauce-infused party version.
2024-06-29Thatch18:54Goose Forest Hills Stadium Queens NYBig second-set version comes on the heels of a special Autumn Crossing performance. The band strips down to minimalist funk initially with Peter really going ham with delay on the clav. All five members unite as one and rip through a sustained peak section with no one person in the lead.
2024-06-30Pancakes15:05Goose Westville Music Bowl New Haven CTEmerging from "Skux Life," the quintet explores some nice reggae-tinged terrain before building a peak back into the ending of "Pancakes." A worthy stack, indeed.

2024-09-01Big Modern!36:41Goose PNC Bank Arts Center Holmdel NJ36-minute debut is quantity over quality, but the band's commitment to exploration atop Cotter's flowing groove is great.
2024-09-01Madhuvan23:33Goose PNC Bank Arts Center Holmdel NJPeter dominates this version with pulsating waves of OB-6, then matches Rick's heavy shredding on Vintage Vibe. The antithesis to September 2024's significant major-key jams and one of the month's best outings.

2024-09-06Arrow26:36Goose Saratoga Performing Arts Center Saratoga Springs NYPeter hangs back for most of the jam on subtle OB-6 work, which gives Rick and Cotter the room they need to DOMINATE. A propulsive and dark theme emerges with Rick on nonstop momentum, using Cotter's full-steam-ahead groove to destroy everything in his path. Blasts back into a high-energy finish.
2024-09-07Hungersite24:49Goose Saratoga Performing Arts Center Saratoga Springs NYEschews the typical Type I "Hungersite" peak and shifts immediately into gorgeous bliss. Rick weaves some incredible earworm melodies to a peak before the band quiets, beginning a LONG and patient build to a final explosion. Excellent use of phaser piano from Peter.
2024-09-09This Old Sea19:09Goose Ting Pavilion Charlottesville VAThe first “Sea” with the hypnotic rearranged vocal outro. Rick leads out of that bridge as the band carries the melody beneath, casually jamming toward a beautiful peak that summons more oohs and ahhs before breaking into a classic “Sea” jam. Pete layers synth over effected vintage vibes, enabling the best of what “Seas” can do: It explores space while embracing quieter dynamics, steadily escalating into a full-band-jammed power ballad. This one still had room to run when it dropped into “Interlude II.”
2024-09-11Echo of a Rose16:16Goose Salt Shed, The Chicago ILNo forgiveness needed in this standout version. September 2024 was a great month for short-yet-deep "Echo" jams.
2024-09-11Wysteria Lane20:17Goose Salt Shed, The Chicago ILThe rhythm section is king in this jam, going from spacey psychedelia to driving funk. Cotter and Trevor push forward and Jeff jumps in on tambourine at the perfect time. Great full-band grooving.

2024-09-15Earthling or Alien?23:52Goose Vibrant Music Hall Waukee IASerious early funk puts the power of reverb/envelope filter clav on display. 2024-09-15The Empress Of Organos21:38Goose Vibrant Music Hall Waukee IAThe Taco Town of “Empresses.” We start with the top slice: an unprecedented six-minute pre-verse intro jam. Then, savor the thick, crunchy layer after Trevor’s bass solo. You think you’ve reached the meat, but then you’re swept into a “River” of “Greens.” Think we’re done? Not quite. The real core of this sandwich is the bottom half, with “Empress” returning for a jam-packed, savory finish that ties it all together.
2024-09-15The Empress Of Organos12:05Goose Vibrant Music Hall Waukee IAThe bottom half of the "Empress" sandwich starts with the same layer that topped the "Green River" center. The band settles into a steady, chill groove, with Rick’s digital sauce poured over Pete’s thick layer of vintage vibes. This section is light but thick, a monolith revealing a slightly spicy aftertaste before dissolving into brief almost "Flowdown"-like dissonance. A final dark spread evocative of Mario’s underworld theme, coats the bottom slice’s closing verses and composed finish.

2024-09-21Borne20:05Goose Remlinger Farms Carnation WASeventeen months younger and still cutting his teeth, Eugene's baby brother enchants the neighboring northwest with a worthy, if less mature, reprise. Built on a bed of vintage vibes and a steady, pulsing bassline, the performance explores a richly textured, atmospheric space as Rick patiently vamps until finding a hook around the 14-minute mark. For the last few minutes, the band shifts to a dancier chordal groove that never fully realizes its potential, dissolving instead into "Turned Clouds."
2024-09-21Everything Must Go15:10Goose Remlinger Farms Carnation WAAnother great S1 closer that starts forebodingly with some minor key piano and is driven forward by tribalistic drumming. 2024-09-21Drive16:43Goose Remlinger Farms Carnation WAGrungy double guitar rock and roll takes a magical tour through blisstown. Gorgeous melodic finish before slipping into "Electric Avenue." Very reminiscent of the SPAC version from earlier in the month.

A boat house looms on the horizon as a helicopter blasts impassable craters in the road ahead. 2024-09-24Pancakes33:17Goose Cuthbert Amphitheater Eugene ORTypical breakfast for the first 15 or so minutes until the band locks in on a jazz-rock motif similar to "Switchin'." Peter takes an atypically aggressive approach to organ for a sustained peak section that builds momentum to a fever pitch. At Rick's urging, things get heavy through a thrashy peak before things cool off into a final bliss section. Peter makes a valiant attempt at a "Loose Ends" segue but Rick says no and brings us home. Incredible journey.
2024-09-24Tumble21:38Goose Cuthbert Amphitheater Eugene ORSpaces out from the initial funk with Peter laying down thick guitar chords. Seems to be firmly sticking to a peaky Type 1.5 zone when a huge build takes a hard left turn into ambient space atop Cotter's churning snare, Trevor colouring with high-register melodies. Rick brings things down into some major-key riffing and Peter picks up the intensity with a turn into klezmer-ish piano jamming.

Returning to the song structure, Pete transitions to punctuated keys, inviting Rick into a cyclical step-jam typical of “Madhuvans.” With callbacks to the earlier “Mais Que Nada,” Rick builds to a deliberate peak, both provoked and matched by Trevor’s fierce, Cliff Burton-like bassline.

By 16 minutes, with the sections fully baked, Cotter propels the jam with increased tempo and intricacy. The sibling resemblance is unmistabkle, with the same prominent good looks and form. But while 24's two-guitar Goose section immediately unleashes a colossal wall of sound, this one ambles through the halls of adolescent uncertainty before finally finding its senior-year stride — ignited by Rick’s delicate yet forceful guitar-work, Pete’s sudden organ attack, and Cotter’s thunderous drumming.

2025-02-06Animal16:19Goose Miller High Life Theatre Milwaukee WIThe most remarkable thing about this “Animal” is how unexpectedly non-"Animal" it reads. A listener jumping in blindly right after the verses could easily get lost in the sauce of a typical “Arcadia” jam. We find Ricky doing that trademark Ricky thing, with a gradual sustained build patiently transforming a simple musical idea into a high-energy, major-key bliss explosion. This rendition portends of only good things for “Animal," quite possibly as the next big jam vehicle.
2025-02-07Atlas17:18Goose Miller High Life Theatre Milwaukee WIMost exploratory version to date hangs in some low-key funk out of the gate. Absolutely incredible sustained energy in this one.
2025-02-11Rosewood Heart18:51Goose HISTORY Toronto ONHailing from Canada after its longest gap in several years, this "Hoserwood" delivers "Rosewood's" finest performance since at least the Cap in 2024. From there, a thundering percussive segment builds with a Middle Eastern-accented theme reminiscent of a "Tumble" jam, ultimately ending rather abruptly and unceremoniously.
