Good Lord. After Big Modern! closed out a mostly psychadelic 1st set with a bang, I was convinced they’d come out with a hopping dance party of a 2nd set…something like Flodown, Indian River, Lead The Way, Butter Rum, etc. But no, I am not the artists, and I’m definitely not the artists who know exactly how to hold a room of their people in the palms of their hands, shake that room up like a pair of dice, and throw it down the table bouncing off every cushion, side rail and stack of high roller chips on the felt before finally coming to rest on boxcar 6’s as the rows deep crowd around the table erupts with pure joy. The artists had a dance party in mind, but it was more of a funkytown disco party that almost literally brought the roof down. You Spin Me Round had the entire room actually spinning around. At some point as I was spinning my hat around in circles over my head, I noticed the people on the balcony hanging above us, many of them pointing out to their show buddies various places on the floor where interesting things must have been happening…from their perch they were taking in a bouncing, spinning, dancing mass of heathens...I could see smiles of joy on every one of their faces. I did the show solo on the back rail in front of the sound/video/light booth. I met some new people who also showed up by themselves, it was a blast. I’m very much looking forward to the next time with my show friends, but for this time, It was fun being the dice.
PS: For the record, my name is Bob Lee, and I’m accepting Jive Lee into Bob Don as a special gift made personally to me by the band. Thank you, Goose.
