Steamboat Springs |
CO | Efficient Pete-led 14-minute journey initiated by his vibesy accompaniment as Rick arpeggiates out of the head section. A soaring synth jam that starts bright and clean morphs into a grittier sawtoothy lead section before landing them into a floating full-band jam with sort of “Scarlet”-islandy motif undergirded by rolling drum fills and well-placed Trevor flair. Rick leads out from there with a punchy attack that twists the tropical theme into a short but assertive closing statement. |

Essex Junction |
VT | First section of the jam rages along with Peter's new clav. Peak dies away as Grippo hops on stage and he and Rick start trading licks like old friends. The stuff sit-in dreams are made of. |

CT | Gets more done than most 15-minute first set versions. Highlight of an otherwise unremarkable show. |

Snowshoe |
WV | Multifaceted festival "Flee." Band breaks into percussive space as Peter uses his backlined Rhodes for some Manzarek-like playing. A peak leads to some clav and organ funk that eventually blitzes into the finish. Keyboard showcase. |

Oklahoma City |
OK | 30-minute version stays relatively close to home until around 19 minutes, when it shifts to a bright and major key. This vibe gradually picks up steam before peaking again and transitioning > to "Caution". |

IL | Soak in this Flee as a peaceful gentleness settles in to start. Gorgeous keys by Peter and Rick mimics the style. Like a flowing wave, Trevor and percussion begin increasing tempo and volume as band rises magically only to settle back down in the earlier quiet style, then build back to a fiery finish. |

CO | XL Flee jam moves into some very funky territory, with lots of percussive piano, wah-guitar, then screaming overdriven blues soloing, at points sounds like it could be -> "Thatch" but instead find it's way back to the triumphant Flee ending. |

Capitol Theatre, The |
Port Chester |
NY | Did this kick off the show of 2023, or does it just make you think it does? No matter, the energy, propulsiveness, and endless riffing from Rick leads to a well-earned peak, which spills over at 13:28 to a late-night percussive jam. No let-up on Night 5! |

MA | "Flee" had a pretty good Fall and it all started here. Right when the rocking jam is about to wrap up with the closing guitar solo, this unfinished version instead veers into a delightfully whimsical little passage akin to early 90's Frisell interpreting ragtime music. Peter moves from vibes to clav in a satisfying fashion during a slick transition into "Look Out Cleveland". |

MT | Spuds quickly turns percussive as Peter hits repeating patterns on the Vibe. Fragments into the Eastern-tinged space they love so much with circular riffs from Rick and Peter that give it a very dissonant and darker feel. |

CA | This fluid and vibrant Flee is at its best during the masterful emotive solo Rick guides the first half of the jam with, Peter dancing along with every note in some of his very finest piano accompaniment. |

Jacobs Pavilion at Nautica |
Cleveland |
OH | Quickly pivots from easy breezy mode into punchy clav funk. Grows thicker and heavier for several minutes until the band comes up for air and soars into a peaky zone atop Peter's synth drone. Rick's soloing has some serious mojo behind this as Goose blasts through the amazing end of this jam. |
